Hurray! I have finally finished my exams…evil evil evil!!! So now I have holidays…where I can sleep as much as I want and not have to get up in the morning and study. (sigh with happiness).
Anyway…I remembered that for classics we did some poems by Ovid and one of his poems in Amore just really crack us up. It is basically a poem about how he loves all type of women, if they admire his poems then he love them, as they are admirers, if they dislike his poems, he’ll still love them as he want to try and change their mind. Basically, it’s a really witty poem. My sister did the same paper and so she studies that poem and the other day we were just talking about character deaths when we suddenly remember the poem and joked that we could twist the poem to fit into character deaths, how every type of character can be justified in dying. i.e. main character’s death will be more tragic, while a minor character might be killed because the author doesn’t want to kill main character. So anyway…this is what I did one day when I got really bored. I suppose you can say it is a tribute to Ovid, although this poem that I wrote is absolutely random.

“It is the sad truth that almost every author secretly indulges a delight
In the destruction of the children they gave birth to by their hands’ weaving
Even though they weep tears at the death as much as a parent,
They still choose to kill for the sake of a greater good:
The creation of impact by the use of tragedy to seduce readers
Yet the worst part of all this is that there is always a justification, a reason
Either their death would result in the most amount of tears,
Or that it is best for that character to die

If they are a major character, then all the readers would wail their heart out
Completely moved at this unfairness
On the other hand, killing a minor character would still cause tears,
But it would not send your book flying due to anger
Had the character been praying for death? Why should you deny their wish?
They always struggle to live? That makes their death all the more bitter
Those who filled their purpose may die in peace
While those who did not would motivate the ones that mourn for them
For those with no purpose…death is the ultimate enlightment
If they were not in love then it is better for them to die instead of lovers
As for those in love? The most beautiful deaths are those who die for love
Ones who love unrequitedly find death as the perfect opportunity for confession and realization
They were loved back? Readers weep for the ones that are left behind
As for those whose lovers died already? It is too cruel to deny them a reunion

Lastly, surely any villain deserves to die
While death is the greatest sacrifice for a hero to achieve heroism”

Like I said, totally random. But on a serious note, I seriously cannot stand authors who cry and say that they had to kill their characters, or such crap like their characters cannot not be killed or these kind of stuff. I am really referring to Rowling who was crying about Sirius Blake’s death at the fact that he had to die, and she could not save him etc, because I think that is totally crap. Sorry Rowling fans, sorry Harry Potter fans but I think what she did is just…hypocritical. Ultimately as an author, you are the creator of your characters and you choose to let them die, no one else. You can feel sad at their death, I understand that, but you are the one who choose to let them die. If you really don’t want them to die you can change your plot to make them live. Ultimately, characters die because you want to let them die.

The title say it all, I know that few people would actually read this but I still want to do it for some reason.

Characters (contains spoilers)
Sukisyo has a large cast of very interesting characters who are all voice by very famous voice actors. I will just do a bit of a description for the most important ones.

Sora- voiced by Midorikawa Hikaru (he also did Tamahome in Fushigi Yugi)
Sora is the protagonist and basically the whole story centres around him, and in the drama CD he also is a bit like a narrator. Sora is quite a likeable character, he is straightforward and is quite positive, and basically tries to do the right thing. He also has a rather forgiving nature. Later on we learnt that he and Nao had been kidnapped to do experiments and it is because of this that he was separated from Nao. The experiments were attempts to control the human mind. Due to not being able to endure the pain of the experiments, as well as having to look after Nao, he ended up creating Yoru, and then helped Nao to create Ran, their alternative egos.

Sunao- voiced by Hoshi Souichirou (he also did Goku in Saiyuki, and Ohjiro in Angel Sanctuary)
Nao and Sora had been very close childhood friends and so holds a rather resentful grudge towards Sora as he believed that Sora betrayed him by abandoning him, he was actually working for the evil scientist who kidnapped them. In the game/drama CD Nao also blames Sora for the death of his parents, which Sora seemed to have killed when he lost control due to the experiments. But once Nao realized the truth he forgives Sora. Nao is a rather violent character as he has a tendency to punch Sora whenever he lost his temper, and this happens quite a lot.

Yoru- voiced by Koyasu Takehito (he is in too much stuff for me to write it all down. But a few very important roles. Hotohori in Fushigi Yugi; Keiki in The twelve kingdoms; Aya in Weiss Kreuz; Seishiro in Tokyo Babylon)

Yoru is my favourite character and I admit, I am biased because my favourite voice actor voiced him, but he is the kind of character that I would like anyway so…

Yoru is the alter ego of Sora and to an extent he is rather different from Sora. I think the best way to describe him would be using this description I saw from a character survey on Sukisyo some time ago. To most people Yoru is “It will be very disastrous to be his enemy due to the scary ways that he deals with things.” Ran got harassed by two delinquents during the day, so Yoru ‘challenged them to a fight.’ The scary thing is that he wasn’t just beating them up, or beating them until they get unconscious, he even transcends the beating the crap out of them stage. He didn’t stop punching them until he felt that he is no longer angry, as he seems to have continued beating them for some time even though they were no longer conscious, then he tied them to the tree naked. When I first heard that bit I was really shocked, because the anime did not show how scary he really is, I think what he did makes him one of the most scary character I have encountered in regard to getting even with someone. Likewise, he almost strangled Nanami (see below) as Nanami had participated in the experiments at Sora and Nao, and unlike Sora he does not seem to forgive so easily.

But Yoru have a very soft spot for Ran, whom he clearly loves very much. And as I just said, he will take any harm done to Ran very personal, and he pretty much indulges in most of Ran’s wishes, as well as tolerating Ran’s obsession and possessiveness to him. The two of them are really cute but they get very mushy with one another, which kind of explain why they are so cute. Unlike the drawings of Sora and Nao, whenever Yoru comes out with Ran they usually are in very close physical contact, because their love for each other really dominates their character.

Although he often teases Sora he does care about Sora very much and he would help Sora out, he is also in charge of Sora’s memories- he actually sealed the ones that would cause Sora harm if he remembers them.
Sora based the appearance of Yoru on Shinichiro (see below), whom he regard as the type of man he (Sora) would like to be. I find that Yoru is drawn very interestingly, he looks different from Sora by being taller, with darker hair, and one of the most distinguish feature about him is that one of his eye is yellow, while the other is blue, and his right arm is almost always wrapped by bandages. While this is never explained in the anime, it is revealed in the game/drama CD: it is to cover the scar on his right hand, as he had attempted to end his and Sora’s life due to what Sora did in the experiments.

The one thing that I really don’t like in the anime is the ending, Yoru ended up gone. Because Sora could no longer rely on him, he was not needed and so he just disappeared. He’s my favourite character so I am naturally upset at this ending, and even more sad they never mentions what happens to Ran, although you presume that Ran would eventually go away as well. It is probably better for Sora to have him gone as he is only an alter ego, but his character is so distinguished and different from Sora that you really feel that he is not only an alter ego. (The last episode when he come out is really sad as he and Sora stood side by side, and while Sora’s shadow is very obvious, Yoru have no shadow, seems a reminder that he is not a real person.) And the love between him and Ran really make you think that they deserve to be together. However, in the game/drama CD Yoru does not go away, and it seems that he and Ran are still together even though everything is solved.

Ok, long enough entry, but Yoru is an exception as he is my favourite character, who is also voiced by my favourite voice actors, so that is a bonus. Onto next person…

Ran- voiced by Yamaguchi Kappei in the drama CD and the game (who is most famously known to the western culture as Inuyasha and Ranma). But in the anime he is voiced by Hoshi Souichirou (who voices Nao).
Ran is the alter ego of Sunao, and for me, the most distinguish character about him is his obsession and love for Yoru. More then half the time he come out, he is trying to get Yoru to come out through means that varies from flirting with Sora, to screaming and yelling at him, to punching him and even to strangling him once. He gets incredibly jealous whenever Yoru flirts with anyone, or even talks about anyone else at certain times. (One of the most funny incident in the drama CD is when he was trying to stop Yoru kissing Nao, and instead got kissed by Sora, he then started to cry and say how disgusting it was). His character is really diluted in the anime though.
I was really shocked at the fact that Yamaguchi Kappei is voicing Ran, as at that time I just thoughts of him as Inuyasha. I think this need extra mentioning because Yamaguchi did such an impressive job in Sukisyo as Ran that it is scary. When I first him voicing Ran I was absolutely shocked because the first thing I heard was this very girlish like giggle that I would never expect to be from the same voice actor who voiced Inuyasha. (For those who have seen Inuyasha, just imagine him sound so feminine, and even giggling). It get worse though...in one track he was purring, I am still tramutised by that purr.
In conclusion, Koyasu is my favourite voice actors but Yamaguchi is the one I regard with the most amazement.

Matsuri- voiced by Chiba Susumu (who also voiced Tomo in Angelic Layer, and Aki in Ayashi no Ceres.)
Matsuri has been friends with both Sora and Sunao since they were children, and he continues to be a very good friend to them, helping them whenever they need it. On the other hand, Matsuri has a tendency of creating plans that involved Sora and Nao which sometimes gets quite embarrassing. He also tends to embarrass the two of them by taking a lot of pictures of Sora and Nao, who are often in awkward positions due to Yoru and Ran. I think Matsuri is also one of the smartest character in the story, he is often the brains behind something, and his judgement is usually right (at one point in the anime I almost thought that Matsuri might the ultimate villain.)

Shinichiro- voiced by Miki Shinichiro (who also did Tsuzuki in descendent of darkness, Yoji in Weiss Kreuz, as well as Miaka’s random brother Keisuki in Fushigi Yugi)
Shinichiro is like a mixture of father and brother to Sora (who calls him Nii-chan, which mean brother). Shinichiro is a detective and in order to investigate the whole conspiracy that involves Sora and Nao, he undercover as a maths teacher: Minato. Minato is like an alter ego, but not quiet as most of the time he controls his own behaviour. Unlike Shinichiro, who is rather immature, Minato is so much more…scary and a pervert. He looks very different as Minato as he would wear a formal suit with his hair very flat, so I got quite a shock when I first saw a picture of Shinichiro (because in the anime we sees him as Minato first for most times) He lives with Nanami and these two are like a married couple, although I always feel that their relationship was never in the dominate light due to Yoru and Ran, then Sora and Nao.

Nanami- voiced by Ishida Akira (who also did Hakkei in Saiyuki)
Nanami is probably the school nurse (although he used to be a psychologist) and it is revealed that he was actually involved in the experiment done to Sora and Nao. (Which kind of explain why Yoru tried to strangle him at one stage.) Nanami obviously cares very much about Sora and Nao, although what he feel about the alter ego seems less certain. When I first saw Nanami I really thought that he was a woman until I heard Ishida Akira’s voice, which was quite funny because my initial thought: “hold on, this is not Fushigi Yugi!!!” But Nanami looks very feminine, and he is almost always smiling.

These are the main characters, but just for Claire I am going to include the follow character, as that is her favourite character.

Umae-chan- voiced by Ueda Yuji (the voice actors also voices Shinichiro’s brother) (who also voiced Kakyou from X, and Hojo from Inuyasha)
Sora’s homeroom teacher. Umae-chan is a very minor character who doesn’t even speak in the anime and is basically absolutely unaware of what is going on in the school. He is probably the only normal person in the whole story, as his main worry is that he is over thirty with no girl friend.
I always associate Ueda with his role from Kakyou, to be blunt, very soft spoken. Hearing his as Shinichiro’s brother who is absolutely posh is pretty similar, but as Umae-chan he have this psychotic breakdown which is very worth listening to (apparently the voice actor is famous for these sudden outbursts.)

I was going to put some pictures up to show the drawing style but for some weird reason it just doesn't work, ok...let me tell the truth, I don't know how- I thought I did, but not right now. So maybe some other day.

Lastly, some quotes. I translated these sentences that are translated into Chinese from Japanese, my translation is not good but hopefully the basic ideas will come through.

Alright…here it is, the manga/anime weekly review that I intend to do. Technically it should have started last Friday but I got so busy that I didn’t really manage. I know that people keeps on saying make time but well…I just don’t seem to have that ability. Well, I shouldn’t even be doing this now but I want to take a break from studying (exams coming up…sob sob)

Jeez…how should I start this…(cough cough) Anyway…here it is! The start of my manga/anime reviews which I will try to do at a weekly basis, I’ll include basic summaries that will be spoiler free and likely stolen from winkepaedia which just introduce it, followed by my own comments (which might contain spoilers) as well as maybe some character analysis (not an in-depth one, it will very basic). I’ll mention when the spoilers are coming up, I should really find a way to do what I saw this site did, the spoilers are only visible if you highlight it. Technically I have already done some form of review for both Fushigi Yugi and Loveless but they were too informal. Random? So this is a proper one. If you are not interested in anime/manga then don’t read.

Basic data
Title: Sukisyo (full name= Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shoganai [this translates to “I like what I like, so it can’t be helped”]) [I have no idea why I decided to do this but I just did, by the way this does not represent the type of stuff I usually read!!!]
Category: Game (I think this is the first form)
Drama CD (then made into a lot of drama cds that are basically identical to the game.)
Anime [OVA. That means it was released into the store straight away.](13 episodes)
Novel (I think only one is published, I haven’t read it but I have flipped it and it is identical to the game. This is pretty new too.)
Manga (One so far, the newest product I’ve seen the manga and it is in Japanese so I have no idea what it is about, other then the fact that it is weird and drawn really differently…….)

The anime is something that starts off very light-hearted, and it is very funny. But it does get serious though, it is worth watching. If you really like the anime then I advise you to listen to some of the drama cd but I do not recommend the game to anyone, as what I have seen of it is enough to be traumatise me.

Origin
Why I saw it: My sister downloaded the OVA and it seemed interesting and it also contained a lot of famous voice actors. At that time I just decided that Koyasu Takehito is my favourite voice actor, and since he is in Sukisyo I decided “Great I’ll watch it.” So this is the symbolism of this anime? I like the basic story and I love hearing his voice so that is why I decided to hear the drama cd after I watched the anime (and the story from the anime is very interesting, and my sister found translation so why not?) Later on we found screen shot of the game (some are really dodgy) and it is also at this time when the drama cd gets dodgy too…after that we decided to do some research and we discovered that the story is a very heavy BL and the anime is an absolute dilution. This then led nicely to the next section

Warning
This is a BL (Boy love) story so it means that is about guys, and Sukisyo is like the BL that defined all other BL, but we had no idea that it was going to be like that. (Not only is there not one single female character in the story, there is not even a female voice actor!) BL is basically love between guys and the heavy ones can get rather graphical (like Sukisyo) while the lights one are only playing with the idea that is two guys in love with each other (a bit like loveless or even Tokyo Babylon)
So warning…if the lightest BL stuff disturbs you then DO NOT continue reading, as this is a very heavy BL story, it contains a lot of stuff that are rated. Apparently the game is R18, I haven’t played it but looking at some of the game shots, I can well understand why!
Although the anime itself is alright, it’s just normal bl? Kind of light, not very heavy. As I said before the anime is like super dehydrated! That is why I watched it! If it was like the game straight away I don’t think I would watch it…

Basic Story (spoiler free)
Sora (protagonist.) just recovered from an accident (fell off from a school building) and as a result he lost his memory. His new room mate is Sunao (usually known as Nao), whom, he is told by his close friend Matsuri, used to be his very close childhood friend.
As Sora tries to make sense of what is happening he discovers that both he and Nao have an alternative ego. Ran (for Nao) and Yoru (for Sora), and these two are (*cough cough*) lovers.
One of the most distinguished things about this story is that it had a large cast of characters that are very interesting…the two main characters and along with their crazy friends and teachers, and as I said it is a very funny yet rather touching and cute story at parts.
The story basically centres on Sora trying to make sense of everything going around him, and kind of coming to term with his “friendship” with Nao.
For me, the main factor that made me want to continue watch it is because I really want to know what had happened. Why did Sora fell off? Just what happened with Nao? What did they mean by Nao leaving that place? When can the two alter egos come out and what is the stuff that they are hiding? And there is this conspiracy that is slowly being built…

Anime/OVA:
There are 13 episodes although the last episode is absolutely random, so you really just need to watch the first twelve. The anime version differs greatly by being way diluted, and the climax of the anime is what happens (in the game and drama cd you find out why Sora and Nao got separated, as well as why he fell off in the very beginning, whereas you only find this out in the last episodes of the anime). The anime is also very funny in the first few episodes, that is another reason why I watched it, I was just cracking up. (And the romance of Yoru and Ran are so so cute!!!)

Drama cd/game/novel:
The game is really dodgy…I mean, some of the screenshots I saw would be labelled as porn if it isn’t for the fact that it was censored, so this just indicates how dodgy it is. But trust me, the anime is alright.
The drama cds are kind of like the game, where there is this whole relationship thing that is not just platonic, so you basically have to hear it with earphones. And it is kind of funny, Japan has been stereotyped for being very strict and formal, and then you realize that the stores sell these type of things openly, I was told that any drama cds are very easy to find in bookstores. In a way they are more open then Western culture, at least in this case, because voice actors who are really famous voices a lot of bl drama cd and bl games, and it is not a shameful thing to do as we might expect. It is almost a form of art!!!

Hey, pretty good, no spoilers yet. Well, I am also going to do a character summary for the main characters but this entry is getting way to long so I will stop here and post the character summaries tomorrow. If you read this then leave a review! (it’s so ironic that this is the same length as my history essay, but does not take days to write)

I should really have asked my sister just where the old choral hall’s labs are, instead of walking here all the way to the human science building then walk back again, which is kind of stupid. But all the computers in the library and Kate Edgar centre are filled so that’s why I’m somehow here. (And moaning about it too).
Anyway…IMPORTANT NEWS!!! I now have a blog in MSN too but that was a bit of a semi accident that just happened, but none the less, I will be dual blogging. Word of warning though, the MSN blog will just be exactly the same as this one, actually, it will probably be a bit diluted as I started that one later, and I’ll be updating my live journal one first. So for those who have my live journal blog, there is no need to go to the MSN one.

Well…ok…I saw Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Saturday night with my sister and her two friends and there is just something so amazing about seeing a play performed life. I don’t know how to explain it but the mere fact of a performance right in front of you. It makes you think too. The main characters are the stars of the play but yet the nameless chorus members are what make the play wow visual wise by the dancing and everything. But anyway…about the musical in general.
It is certainly interesting, although there seem to be so much dialogue in the whole musical, but I like the songs. I kind of went there with a sense of knowledge because my sister has the sound track to one of the versions. I thought all the songs were done really well but then I suspect and believe that I am tone deaf, as I can never tell whether a singer is out of tune unless they are really really really out of tune. But I think the weirdest bit is the characters who dressed as furniture, especially the wardrobe and the clock. (Actually I take that back, the tea pot was probably weirder.) I thought the guy who performed the beast was excellent in both singing and acting wise (although at times he behaved a bit idiotic) but when he sing “If I can’t love her”, both the whole song and reprise it was really beautiful. The disappointing bit was when the beast turned back to a human and well…I didn’t expect to see a really hot guy or anything but I guess I kind of was wishing that the guy could have been a bit more good looking. (I’m not the only one who thinks this, my sister and her friends both think that too). The only other complaint is the fact that the characters all kind of have to wear what they wore in the cartoon, which does not look that good, especially the guy for Gaston with his hair. (Shudder, shudder). But it was on the last night so the whole audience actually stood up and clap, the last time I remember such a strong reaction was when I helped out at church, looking after the little kids by taking them to see sleeping beauty. The kids begins to boo at the evil witch, I feel so sorry for the actress. I am convinced that she changed her costume when the cast come out because I did not see her.

Somehow this made me recollect how a few years ago, when I was in forth form, I had wanted to rewrite a story based on the concept of beauty and the beast. When I got home I actually dig through my old stories and it is amazing on what I once write. (It’s kind of funny too. There’s this story that I wrote and then I rewrote it and came up with plans for at least 2 more version, but when I read it last night I realized that I now think the first version is the best version). But my version of beauty and the beast, it was a product of my forth form writing, so that was when I was trying to be very feminist. (I almost think that I have become the opposite as my recent stories keep on having guys as the protagonists and many female I use does not possess the best characters.) Basically my story is set in a fantastical world (another trait of my writing back then, obsession with fantasy), where the world is rules by four gods and is kind of Celtic and Medieval with the women rather suppressed. (Which I discover is not that true, but hey, I was only 15 or so.) The story centres on Ellan (the beauty) and Kyvain (the beast), he is cursed by the water goddess because he would hunt near the river and pollute it, so she turned him into some kind of fish, he have scales on his body and later on his legs became a tail. Ellan is in the castle because her brother caused Kyvain to be cursed by the water goddess again by accidentally polluting the river, she went in her brother’s place for the simple reason of not wanting to be at home.

Well, that is about it for today, it is a long enough entry any way. I actually have more stuff to say but I better start doing work until my lecture start.

I think my blog pet has yet to learn Shiraishi's first name so let's try again...

My last entry was moral lecture number 1, so technically that means there will be more then one lectures, but I can't be stuff doing that now. And it's because I am in a super good mood right now, although I have no idea how long that would last (My glass, as I said before, is now half empty). Anyway why am I in such a good mood? Well...because a) I got my management essay back yesterday, which to be honest I think is absolutely shit, and I actually got 10.5/15. Happy because the class average is 9.66, so it is higher then average. HAHAHAHAHA. b)I got my history essay back. 20% and I got 73%, which means I got a B and had i managed to get 2 more marks by getting 75% then I would have got a B+. But I am super happy with my mark as for my history paper last semester, I only got B- for my two course work essays although thanks to plussage my over all exam is B+ (sorry to all, I just have to brag about that cause I was so happy when I saw that mark. Actually what happened was that I was talking to my sister on line as she was in Taiwan and she told me that we can see some mark. So I went to that site and was thinking "Don't want to see it don't want to see it" When I saw the B+. Reaching Ahhhhh!!!!! I was going to jump for joy at a B but got a B+.) And to make me even more happy my grammar is actually marked as high competent and my tutor didn't actually say work on your grammar (Although my clarity seem to need improvement.) Still...yeah!!! c) Got my information system's mark, haven't got the actual text. 74%, not bad as class average is 58.4%. So anyway...in a very good mood and since I managed to borrow a text book I can use my one hour break to work on my blog, instead of taking note, which is what I planned to do.

Anyway...it is official, I no longer work at warehouse stationary. Yeap, I had my last day. It was quite touching, although most of the part time whom I had work with and become friends with are either doing full time or no longer there or working weekends. Yeah...kind of sad to think about it. But working there...I've seen like my supervisors being changed for seven times, to be honest, it's this year. Now I have to start living as I did before I got a job, spend little. But I kept on thinking about my first day, which is about one year and a few months ago now, my first day there...being scared and nervous and all that...And before on my Monday shifts...I'm like the oldest night filler there. Yeah...reminiscence. I remember how there was a time when three guys were playing cricket during a break with a stress ball, the empty roll for those large brown paper...sigh...and how I was actually training one of my friends on his first day, make me felt old. :) And how I had to pick up rubbish for work...and then I actually saw the dad of one of my best friends. That was.......... Also, how I used to knit during my breaks, that aroused many interesting comments. So I am a bit sad to leave but I still left as things are going downhill there since the new hours. I HATE WORKING TO TEN!!! it's not fair to ask my mum to pick me up so late either. And the problem is after dinner I don't have much time to work so it's hard for motivation, and same with when I get home.
I got a card too! (yeah!) I was quite worried as I remembered what happened to one of my friends when she left, she got taped to a pole and the guys ritually pour water over her. But the trouble is I still have some people I need to say good bye to that I didn't get to say yet. So I have to do that soon.

Anyway, onto a more cheerful thing. Since this year had been filled with anime and manga I thought I would share my favourite Japanese names. For me, regardless of the language, I have always liked names that are associated with nature or is a descriptive word (eg. Fleur de lys, Rose, Amber, Esperanze). So it seems that most of the japanese names that I really like fits into this category. Although i remember my japanese teacher in 3rd form told me that my name is Arisu or something like that in Jap....To be honesty I don’t like reading manga in Chinese, even traditional ones for the main reason that I can’t recognize the characters of the people’s name so I tend to give them a weird name or mispronounce it (poor x casts…I read the whole 18 volume thinking that Arashi was pronounce in this completely different way until my sister told me the right way, and poor Kakyou, I kept on calling him the bird guy because of the feathers that surrounded him. In fact Fushigi Yugi is almost an oddity as I could pronounce most people’s name right in Chinese.) But even though I like reading the manga in English, I like seeing their character’s name in kanji, as some names are so pretty in kanji!!! So…my favourite names.

Yuri (百合) I like this name probably because it means lily, and I really like Fleur de Lys (Flower of the valley, which means lily in French) too. But I don’t recall this being someone’s name in any manga, so this is a name I just like. As I said before, I like names associated with nature.

Setsuka (雪華) (X) When I found out what the kanji for this name is I just found it so so beautiful!!! Now I see love this name. In this name Setsu means snow, and ka means splendour. I don’t know how to translate I am afraid.

Yoru (夜) (Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shōganai!) I don’t really know why but I just found someone literally being called ‘night’ sounds really nice.

Kaen (花婉) (Fushigi Yugi) I seem to really like any names associated with flowers, once again, I just find this name really nice.

I will update more next time when I have time, don’t know when that will be though, but I avhe to run to a lecture!!!

I am actually taking a break from doing work, I am fixing the last bit of my history essay before I handed it in. It is an evil essay, as all essays tend to be, but this one especially. I was going to go to the giner cat's house on Wednesday but this essay prevented me from going, as I couldn't have finished it if I went out. Waaaaaaaaa..........I am so sorry!!! I really wanted to go but I honestly couldn't go (sob sob sob)

Speaking of history courseworks I had to read an article on Tristan and Isolde a few weeks ago, and now my view of the story is altered forever. I don't know why but i haver never liked that story at all, although it seems the kind of things that i will go "Awwwwwwwww..." about. But now...the article I had to read was discussing how people at that time had the ideal that the bodies of man and woman should be similar, so that bodies are genderless, and gender is conveyed through clothings instead. The examples beign how alike Trsitan and Isolde is, and if it wasn't for the clothes, you actually can't distinguish the bodies apart. etc etc. So yeah...seriously altered my view on the story forever!

Anyway, this is so sad but i will have to spend so much time in the library that people would almost think that I live in it. BUt it's because of these assignemnts, I will soon hand one in, then I have the rest of the holidays to do another one, before having to hand in another one after a few weeks. Sigh...I know every one is in the same boat but the trouble is that I will stress to much, that is why I have to start doing my work early, otherwise all hell break lose. (Speaking of studying I got my exam time table yesterday...it um...to summarize it in one word: sucks. I was tempted to use a stronger word but since it isn't that bad, it could have been much worse, I will control my mouth.

Although this is a fake holiday, it at least is days off university, so I have a few more time to myself (been watching Fushigi Yugi again, hahaha :) Although I will not be able to get it finished before the break end, that would be a bad idea too so I won't do that.)

But moving on to the second part of the title, yes, it is not a typo, I really am going to deliver a moral lecture. I realized this year how much a person learns when they are trying to teach someone, it really is amazing. I think it's like being a parent, you do this without thinking it is dangerous at all during the process, but as soon as your children do it, you all but have a nervous breakdown. To an extend I understand a bit more. But anyway...

I had a bit of a clash with a friend of mine, who will remain anonymous. But apparantly she was in some trouble when I texted her, and I failed to detect that her reply was a cry for help. (to my defence i had some sort of problems, ok it wasn't that important but still...) I probably made matters worse when I saw her next by telling her that she should be a bit more considerate to everyone else. How do I put it? Being inconsiderate is not the same as being selfish to me, I believe the first one is merely thoughtlessness, while the second one is maliciousness. So anyway she was a bit angry. But I realized what a hypocrite I could be, and I am disgusted with myself because I always said: I rather be a bitch then a hypocrite. But my friend was in a sense of martyrdom, which I often do. "I didn't do this although I wanted to becuase you will think I am selfish etc etc." I often not tell my friends my problems because I think I am being selfish by bothering them, but now I realize, it is better to tell them. But anyway, I hate to admit this but i did not have many sympethy for my friend, I told her that she should ask for help when she need to.

My conclusion is that we are not inconsiderate by asking others to help us, even though they would most likely have their own troubles, but we would be selfish if we blame them for not helping us especially when we do this in a subtle way. Which is what my friend did, which still kind of piss me off, because she blame me for not helping her, for not realizing. although the ironic thing was I only realized how mad I got when I got home.
And another thing that happened: this friend claimed she didn't blame me, wasn't blaming me, seh was just acting it as if she was. From her, this had happened before, there was another time when seh prenteded that seh was really mad with me, and then laughed at me from believing her. Not a good idea (I did that once and the result...still kind of feel bad whenever I accidently think about it. I don't even know if that person remembers what I did anymore but if you happens to read this: I am really sorry for what I did, I really didn't meant any evil or maliciousness.)

Ok...that is the end of my moral lectures. Off to complete my essay, then walk to the history departement. sob... Reviews on something next week! :)

Grrr... because the pc in my house is still being fixed, while my sister took her precious laptop to school today I have to come to university even though I don't need to as I need to go on the internet for work. Sniff sniff...um...I wouldn't actually be blogging a well partly due to the fact that I have problems in going on net, but mainly because I will be very busy with the stupid management essay I have to hand in, as well as doing a test on the last day of the semester. Yeap..everyone else is going home but those unfortunate enough to do info system must stay at university until eight.

The annoying thing about using the school internet is that it costs to download stuff. The other day I managed to find some scanlations for Genbu Kaiden volume 5 which I really wanted, as I only have volume 1~4, but it is tragic! It costs me so much to get the whole file downloaded, sob sob. At least I got to read the manga though! I suppose it is kind of worth it. I think I will do a review on Genbu Kaiden another day.

For now...back to work...

The title kind of says it all, I'm stuck in the university library, trying to research due to my stupid management essay and the problem is that it is a very difficuult process. Management writers are soooooooooo boring, and we have to use journals, there are like five shelves of management journals so it is like do i have to go through the book one by one? In the end i Opted for a different method, to serach the e-journals but it still stuck as there are so much stuff to read but half of it...no, 1/4 of it aren't useful!!! That is why I'm taking a break and is working on my blod instead. But um...I almost wonder am I just going to forget about all these stupid journals, just look at one or two and just manage to write an essay some how...

Finally sorted out how to change the format on my blog and yes...before I forget.
(Strangles Satsuki due to what happened last night). I had just packed my bag and gone to bed and switched the light when she texted me, so I got out of bed and walked a few steps to the desk to get my phone. Since I got up and got my phone I though that I might as well texted back as she asked, but instead she didn't!!!!!!!!!!!
(whacks her on the head with my cell phone)
Gosh...another Friday...work tonight...work was pretty good during my last two shifts as my annoying supervisor was away due to being sick, it is bad but I don't think I'll be that lucky again today. Well, I'll just have to bear through it because of my pay.

My life is busy due to university...did stupid information system test this morning where stupid formula did not work (Sobs hysterically, I do not want to know what I will get. And for my management essay...want to tear the course book to shreads when the semester is over. I now have little time in the weekdays, and not that much more free time in the weekends. But I did watch some of the Fushigi Yugi OVA last weekend, before my freedom got stolen from me. And I'll just do a bit of a review. The home PC broke again and I can't go on the net with my own computer, and my sister's lap top...if her laptop is in the fantasy world then it's profession will be a mage. Why? Because it seem to have a low as hit point, if I accidnetly typed a bit hard then my sister start to scream and yell at me (NOTE= She seems to type quite hard on my computer. Grrr..)

When I first talked about Fushigi Yugi I said it wasn't my favourite manga/anime, but I definately like it way better now. I think the writing of my fan fiction actually helped me because I understand and appreciate the story more. But I still don't say it is my favourte just as I don't say X-1999 is my favourite manga even though my fav character is in there. I think it is because in both cases while my favourite characters are important, they are not domniating, so I end up watching it for the sake of their sake, and don't appreciate the rest as much. Although Fushigi Yugi is not as bad as X-1999, because I like romances and Fushigi Yugi has this. Most importantly, I agree with Fushigi Yugi's ending, I don't agree with X's ending.

Anyway....
OVA 1= This is an absolutely pointless OVA due to reason a=favourite character didn't even come out until the last 10 minute of the last episode, (unless you count the 5 second appearance in the flash back in the first episode) So natrually favourite voice actor didn't say much either (he did voice a random guard but this was not a consolation) But the more important complain (I think) b=the story is absolutely pointless, but yet whoever did it also somehow decided to kill two other important characters, it was just 'what the heck is this story for? and why did you kill these two when their death serve no purpose other then for me to dislike this even more?'

OVA 2= This is much better. I love episode 2 of the OVA and it makes me have a new perspective. I think Hotohori actually ended up loving Houki, at least his action in that episode definatly made me think that he love Houki. I hate to say this but it seems the author only decided that he loved Houki in the end when the second ova was shown, ie. after the original story was written. Because the originally story suggests that Hotohori still loves Miaka, as his dying thoughts were to her: "May you have happiness." But that episode when he was kind of united with his family for that little while was really beautiful (autumn leaf shamefully admits that she was crying).

But this along with other earlier factor is resulting me to do what I had insist that I would not do, I am writing a sequel to my fan fiction on Fushigi Yugi. My first story Hidden Secrets deals with the story in vol 1~13, this sequel will be talking about the story in vol 14~18. Initially it is like a jigsaw, i write random extracts in no order at all. But now the most annoying thing happened, I actually have an order now, I guess my border fitted, I kind of know what will happen in each chapter. But...I don't really have time to do it anymore. And I want to. Why do I want to? I like writing and writing this make me happy as I suppose I am doing the thing of twisting someone else's story I really like to the ending that I would want. And I like the character I created of Yuri (my Original Character). She is quite a strong character, she can protect herself as she can wield the sword tolerably well, but she's also comfortable in being a woman: she is usually decipered in a 'feminnine' (trailing dress) with her very long hair decorated elaborately. And mostly, I think the thing I like best about her is that while she can protect herself, she does not reject the protection of other.

Ok...long enough entry and I really have to get back to my research (sigh...shudder...sniff) A last note. I have lose all my faith in english dubs. I don't know why but I don't find some chinese dub that bad, so it is not just a question of me not understanding the language. Yet I now will officially delcare out that I find english dub ghastly, they just sounds so affected and fake? somehow I found this little clip of Fushigi Yugi -the official english dubbed version- on the net and I foolishly clicked it. Moral= kill all english dub version. The guy who did Hotohori just can't compare to Koyasu Takehito, although compared to everyone else the guy who dubbed the english version is not that bad...My main complaint is actually the woman who voiced Soh...the momment she opened her mouth I almost gagged. I mean Soh is actually one of the few proper woman in Fushigi Yugi (you'll understand what i mean if you know the story), and I think she's drawn rather beautiful too, then in the english version she opened her mouth and this most horrible voice come out. (shudder shudder) (cringe)

I have ran out of creative or even thematic titles, gosh, I got a threat post on my blog today from Satsuki (runs away). But I was going to blog anyway. So anyway...here is to blogging...

First of all my home computer (well, the family one that let me go on net) actually broke so I'm doing this at university. Below is a summary of the most interesting thing that happened in my classes.

History 102= we were given a insight on sexuality in the middle ages. Including a chart of how to know whether you are sinning due to sex. Bascially you can't be having sex during half of the week, and you have to be partially clothed otherwise you are sinning, and lastly, martial sex is only allowed after a marriage of three days.
Despite this I actually quite like this paper, it does give you quite an insight to society.

Classics 130= reading and analyzing greek lyrical poems. Some turn out to be very interesting...rather rated too (why does it sounds as if I'm doing really dodgy papers? I'm not, I swear). Had a class today on Plato's symposium...one of the 'character' view on love is certainly very...original. Two humans were originally joined together but then the gods split them up so that is why people like to have sex, to go back to the perfect form you started off as.

Infosys 110= had a special presentation today, and the guest lecturers tried to bribe us with price. The first person to jump up and scream at the appearance of this monkey thing on the slide will get a price. Why am I putting this up when I didn't even jump up? The guy who won was sitting right beside me so all of a sudden there was this "AHHHHHHH!" behind me.

Management something: my lecturer gave us a real example of the hawthorne experiment by having people folding planes and throwing them to the rest of the class. Yeah...

So that's university life, now to the worser(?) place...work...
I admit that on Monday I did do a quite crappy job at tidying the store but I resent being told in an idiotic way. I am not an idiot, that is one of my pet hatred, being treated as if I am an idiot. So work was not that good, but grr...I need to work because I want to have money. I can get a student allowence (in fact my mum make me get it), but I refuse to use that money. I have no problem in wasting money that I earned but I cannot spend money that the government give me because they can be using that money to help someone who is in more dire need then me.
Thus, I continue to bear with work although I seriously don't like my new surpervisor. It is pretty hard to follow the orders of someone that you dislike rather strongly. Because you have no motivaion. Right now I will only go to work six hours a week because that is my assigned hour, I see no point in working extra because the money i get is enough. In the old days if I was asked to do extra hours in my holiday then I usually do it. I can atually spend the whole wednesday night working if I want to as apparantly the store have to be really tidy by thursday and I actually can manage as I don't have to go to school this thursday, but I don't want to. Because I don't really care about the store, I don't have a motivation. I had at least an obligation before all this change but now I don't. Oh yeah, and whoever read this, don't tell this to my workplace, I still need to work there.

But anyway, what I do for work reminds me of this song my favoruite singer Bruno Pelletier sang. It's called billets vert (which translates to green ticket, and I think 99% that he's talking about money) and one verse seems really suitable...

"I do not have anything against these facts
But it would be necessary that one realizes
Of those and those left in the Satire
shade of the employers who pays us per hour
And they become the Masters singers"

Anyway...to an anime corner...not that I have one. I've been watching anime/reading manga this week but it'll be the last manga/anime until a while as I have to focus fully on my studies now. My sister got this from her friend and I then watch/read both, I thought I'll do a review on this as I actually finished all 12 episode of the anime (as opposed to Weiss Kreuz, who I only have a few episodes, not the whole thing.)

Loveless is a manga by Kouga Yuu, and it is then made into an anime. This is the basic summary from winkapadia: "On his first day at his new school, 12-year old Aoyagi Ritsuka meets a mysterious 20-year old man named Agatsuma Soubi. He claims to be a good friend of Ritsuka's brother, Seimei, who was recently murdered, and the suspicious organization called the 'Seven Moons' may be responsible for the death. As Ritsuka quickly finds out, Seimei and Soubi acted as a pair involved in spell battles. Now Soubi is Ritsuka's fighter, and Ritsuka his 'sacrifice'. Together, they challenge the organization to find out the truth behind Seimei's death and the reason for Ritsuka's amnesia."

As to be expected with any anime that I watch lately, Koyasu Takehito is in it. Although this led to a rather funny result. When I first watch the anime I was basically doing this to my sister: Is Koyasu Takehito in it? Are you sure he really is in it? When does he come out? Is he really in it? [we watched the first episode together and you got to feel sorry for her as he only come out in the last minute so she had to endure about 20 minute of the above] Then I read the manga and then went to watch the rest. I ended up in a really big dilema. Because while Koyasu Takehito is my favoruite voice actor, I kind of really dislike the character (Ritsu) that he voiced. So basically when he's not out I'll be wanting him to come out, because I really want to hear his voice, but when that character does come out I'll just want him to get lost.

The following happens in my head...
(when Ritsu is not out) When is Ritsu coming out, I really want to hear Koyasu Takehito's voice!!!
(when Ritsu does come out) You evil bastard...get out of my sight!!!

In conclusion: nothing worse then your favourite voice actor doing a character that you don't like at all.

This is a long enough entry...it should make up for the week of neglect, as well as giving me the opportunity of a rest. Whoever reads this, leave a message!!!

Finally...the first week passed, how I survive it I do not know, so don't even ask me how I plan to survive the rest what 11 weeks? The first week of university is the only time you can relax, or at the very least not to be killed by work. Anyway today was quite strange...almost rather eventful. [I am very happy with my blog at live journal so I have no intention to change it to MSN, despite being pestered to, I think I like live journal because I just do- and this site throws less tantrum then MSN. So I have no intention of changing it, and live journal is pretty reliable as many people uses it.]

I don't like Friday that much now because a= university starts at 8am so I have to get up at 6:30am, which really sucks! Then I have a big as gap which I suppose could be interpreted as work, but the other factor b= work. Honestly, I am starting to think that Warehouse Stationary is cursed, because the supervisors are just getting really bad. Let's see...
1st guy=pretty good
2nd guy=he's the best
3rd guy=extreme...didn't allow us to talk at all, so many times we actually retorted to gesturing, it may sound quite funny but it was really frustrating and dead boring to not be able to talk for like at least an hour at times. (although to do him justice, he does know what he is doing and once or twice, was rather nice- a bit rare though)
4th guy=he's nice but a bit too nice, too loose? He didn't solve my problem at work until my breakdown.
5th guy=the worse I have seen so far, because everyone wonders whether he actually knows what he is doing, right now the unified answer is NO! He is trying to rearrange the whole store or something, as well as making the shelves so pack that it's going to blow up one day!

But leaving work aside, I don't really want to talk about it more then necessary, although the other day I told the ginger cat about how I had some problems at work and I think she would have came and...and um...have a good shout at the two guys who were giving me a hard time had I told her that I wanted to. As I was saying, I had a class at 8am, it was impossible to fall asleep even if you wanted to, because our lecturer seems to be well aqquaintened with methods of walking us up.eg.slaps on the table repeatively, and suddenly
yelling...but I must have been really tired as I got home aat about 3pm and went straight to bed, and I didn't wake up till 5:30pm... a rarity for me because as most of my close friends know, I have rally bad cases of insomnia, so I must have been really tired.

I got to buy some papers for scrapbooking today, I finally decided to give scrapbooking a go so I brought a scrapbook on Monday with a few paper(why is it so expensive- $14.99? And I brought the cheapest) and today I brought more paper (the price for these 6 sheets of 12" times 12" scrapbooking paper still brings a tear to my eyes as I think about it...ok that is exaggeration but seriously, the price of just one sheet of square paper is so much!) But so far doing the scrapbooking is quite fun, although I'm pretty uncreative, I'm just sticking photos on with some explanations, and I only have a few pages.

Something that I also did was to watch a bit of Fushigi Yugi (if this was manga then the equivalent of what I was doing would be flipping) but it is not my fault completely! I can't watch the rest 30+ episode that I didn't get to watch in the holidays! But I did watch episode 48 in full- and I ended up crying. For those who have read the manga or/and read the anime and know me could probably guess what happened in episode 48: It shows Hotohori's death and it was soooooooo sad! I couldn't help but to start crying (funnily, the last time I cried watching anime was when I watched episode 16 of X, when Seishiro finally dies, that is really sad too...) But I feel as if the director of the anime wanted to make up for Hotohori's absence in the second half of the anime by the great detail on his death, it seemed a final emphasize on his importance. It was done really beautifully, sadly too...you see flashes/montages of him with the song 'Message' playing over everything. I was listening to Message just then and I'm always going to associate that song with his death now...sniff...sniff...

I guess this random entry is long enough, and I don't really feel like starting a more longer topic, so I will end here!

I never ever would have thought that I'd actually say this but I had work tonight and it was actually rather interesting as it went pass really past...I won't go to far by saying it was fun but the three hours passed really fast- a great contrast to the time on Tuesday where I used to spent half of it looking at my watch.

A note to Satsuki-I was almost going to strangle you but you are forgiven, yes, it is rather shameful to be bribed by a lot of milk bottles but having Satuski with me at work is really good! Although most of our other co-workers think that we are crazy as we talks about anime/mangas alot alot alot! But I think it's almost a cultural thing sometimes: western definition of cartoon is for kids, not so much for teenagers (that is certainly what I thought), which is why I only got into anime/mangas last year, end of last year actually. But there is a beauty in most of the mangas (note that I say most. I got out a volume of Initial D, flipped a few pages then gave up even though I wanted to read the manga as Koyasu Takehito is in the anime. Seems that I can only go so far. But the whole car thing in Initial D did not interest me, and I didn't really like the the drawing style.) *cough, cough* back to the main point, most mangas are beautiful- the two characters I think are drawn most beautifully will have to be Sakurazuka Seishiro (from Tokyo Babylon/X-1999) and Hotohori (aka Saihitei, emperor of Konan) from Fushigi Yugi.

Work actually started very funny today. I had a red ribbon in my hair, I brought it and wore it in my hair as my hair is finally long enough again to be able to be put in a ribbon, and ribbons always conjure up romantic feelings. (hard to explain but I can just think of so many characters who wore ribbons and how the ribbon shimmers in their hair. In fact, it really reminds me of one of my stories. Where the protagonists (a troubadour) gave his lover (a gypsy) a multi coloured ribbon and when she dances the ribbon would flow with her hair...Later on, when they were no longer together, he would held that ribbon up and think of her. Then his foster daughter wanted the ribbon and asked him to explain why he refuses to give it to her (as he pretty much indulges her in everything)
Ooops...off topic again...But basically that's one of the strange images I would conjure up when I see ribbons. And lately in my fan fiction for Fushigi Yugi my OC (protagonist) actually wore a red ribbon in her hair. That might have been why I choose to buy a red ribbon.

Anyway Satsuki asked me this: Are you wearing that ribbon as a tribute to Hotohori? {that was why she was almost strangled} My immediate thought: what the...
Although now that I think about it that is kind of true, although I always thought that he ties his hair up with a white ribbon. Although in the anime I think it was kind of dark gold? Not really sure...But I suppose she was telling the truth, now I regard the ribbon in my hair as a tribute to Hotohori. (For those who don't know, Hotohori has very long raven hair which he sometimes ties with a ribbon somewhere at his upper back, so there's a draping feeling). Although I think I paid my greatest tribute to Hotohori by writing that ~40000+ fan fiction. The fan fiction had been really fun to do and I almost am kind of sad that it is over, as writing it was really fun. I don't think I'll be doing another fan fiction like Hidden Secrets lately, if I do any fan fiction then it'll probalby just be random one shots.
Although I can read others (looks at Satsuki)(wink wink nudge nudge hint hint say no more...)

As for university, unfortunately that happened too. It could be worse I guess, and my history paper started quite interesting. As the title is Sexuality in histories you can imagine...but my lecture started the lecture by showing us a picture and wants us to tell him what it is. Not surprisingly the class waited a bit before giving him the answer. I'll leave you to guess that the picture was...

Um...quite a depressing title isn't it? Well, I do have to go back to university tomorrow and I seriously don't want to- all that stress and panic and work again, not hard to understand why I don't want to go back to university. I am really really happy with what I got for my first semester but as I now believe the glass is half empty, I don't believe I can do the next semester that well too.

Anyway, this is a bit of a random entry today. First of all, least I forget- strangles Satsuki. (You know too well what crime/sin you have committed). But I still thank you very deeply for reading my fan fiction and leaving a review, and I am sooooo glad that you like it.

Um...what else? As quite befitted I went to a party on Saturday. My friend's 19th birthday party and it was great as I got to see most of my friends from high school last year, some whom I have not seen for half a year (the only consequence is being slightly tired due to the lack of sleep.) We also, being true to Kiwi culture, had some alcohol. (I remember how my english teacher last year told us that it used to be a tradition in NZ to drink a yard of alcohol or something like that, and two of my friends at work told me that one truly becomes a kiwi when one gets drunk. We truly are a country with potential drunkards.) I didn't get drunk as I had learnt my lesson on my own birthday party the hard way, but one of my friends did. It's strange how people who are drunk never admits that they are drunk...
But in short it was a good party. (sing star was funnnn, although I seriously can't sing. I swear, whoever gets me in their team is doooooomed to lose, but still, good fun.)

Ok...that is all from me this time. Please read and leave a comment (gosh, this sounds exactly similar to posting a fan fiction on line, only that would be please read and review.)

Wow...It's been ages since I last update my blog, but that is because no one reads this! (sniff, sniff) Anyway, what has been going on my life? Nothing that interesting to anyone else, my writings (my fanfiction is finally finished...I had been working on it so much and in some cases I even stayed up the late just typing it up.) My muse should be very happy at my hard work...although it is now finished and it is about ~40000 words in general. Orz, I don't really know what happened. For anyone who wants to read it then go to: www.fanfiction.net/, and click anime, then Fushigi Yugi, then search for Hidden Secrets. (or just go to www.fanfiction.net and type in Hidden Secrets then click search.) It should work, I would paste the direct link to the story here but the site itself is going a bit weird so yeah...sorry. But I quite like my result. Word of warning= the rest of the entry is about Fushigi Yugi and my fan fiction, and contains spoilers.

As I said before, my fan fiction is on Fushigi Yugi. It's an OC pairing, which means I put in an original character (one I created) into the story and paired the OC with a character in the original story.

My fan fiction is an alternative to the manga (as all fan fictions kind of are). This is the basic summary/introduction: Yuri (OC) enters the book of the universe of the four gods and met up with Hotohori, the two of them fell in love and married. That is my prologue (about how she ended up as the empress), then Miaka came into the world and Yuri seems to know Miaka. Through out the rest of the story Yuri's purpose is slowly revealed... [the story does end with a ending I guess you can describe as a happily ever after fairy tale ending. Not really surprising when you consider why I wrote this fan fiction.]

I think I started writing this fan fiction because I just feel so so sorry for Hotohori.(my favourite character)His unrequited love for Miaka is just so sweet and so romantic and even really beautiful! And I think the most tragic part is that he kind of never got over it, even though me married someone else. But I HATE how he suddenly changed to a minor character from a major character (Sniff-why does this have to happen?)But anyway, I wanted to write a fan fiction for Hotohori as I guess I just kind of wish for an alternative version, when he can be in love with someone who returns his love. I didn't want to do a fan fiction with Miaka and Hotohori because I think that is just wrong. As I said before, I consider fan fiction a compliment, not an insult. Because take the example of Fushigi Yugi, I feel for Hotohori's character so strongly that I actually want to let him have a happy ending.

Well...this is so hard to explain but I think those who write and read fan fictions will understand me anyway.

After watching alot of anime in the past year, I reach to the conclusion that Japanese voice actors are absolutely amazing, they are so talented! Unlike the western industry the voice actors for cartoons are really really good, and they are famous just for being a voice actor for cartoon. I mean, they are so important in an anime that you get situations when you watch an anime for the sake of a certain seiyu, (Which I admit, is what I am actually doing), you certainly don't get this with western cartoons.

My favoruite voice actor is Koyasu Takehito (子安武人) because I love his voice, it is such a beautiful voice. However, right now, the voice actor I most admire now is probably Yamaguchi Kappei (山口勝平), because his voice range is absolutely amazing. I mean, after hearing him scream out Inuyasha's "Naruku, I am going to kill you!" , then hear him purred out Ran in Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Sh?ganai's line of "Yoru, I only belong to Yoru," it is quite scary and amazing, that his voice range is just so wide. He was voicing two characters who are like at the two extreme end of a voice range. (If you have listened to Yamaguchi's lines in "Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Sh?ganai!" then you'll understand what I mean. Basically his character speak in the opposite of Inuyasha, and in one case he was purring. I'm not joking!)

Anyway, I want to put something interesting on my blog. This is a list I got from my sister, who in turn got it from her friend, and I have no idea where her friend got it from. But any way a bunch of japanese voice actors were asked the question of what one thing they would take to a no-man island. The list is actually in chiense so i kind of translated it, using the help of Wikipedia I managed to get most of it done. Although there are eleven voice actors whose name I still could not find and therefore it is not in romanji, but still in Kanji. So sorry about that!

My sister and I were actually writting our own comments beside it but that isn't done yet.Any way, please enjoy. I had a quite good laugh when I read the list. by the way i followed the japanese way of putting last name first.

Quite an interesting question, isn't it? If I am asked the question then I'll bring Sayid Jarrah from Lost with me, (he'll be able to protect you and hunt for you, so you basically don't have to worry about survival much), and if the answer have to be realistic then I'll bring an useful guy with me.

This isn't my favourite manga/anime but I thought I'll talk about it a bit considering all the circumstances. I've been working on a fan fiction on it and I have also been bombarded with character song, and even stumbled onto a site where I can read the Fushigi Yugi novels. So...it almost seemed like sadame (fate...)

Fushigi Yugi is a manga by Yuu Watase, it is about how Miaka (A Japanese girl) ended up in this book world, and become the priestess to their god. Miaka must find 7 other celestial warriors, and then she will be able to summon the god Suzaku, who will grant her wishes. For a better summary, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fushigi_Yugi.

I first read the manga and I quite like it. At that time I really wanted to read a manga with a normal romance in it and it has it. (although racing through all 18 at once...not that a good idea). I do quite like the manga, the original story although I did get a bit sad reading it because my favourite character started of as a major character, then he slowly faded to the back ground, becoming a minor character. (sniff) I also like it because like many manga it is drawn really beautifully, especially my favourite character. I supose that is why I started writing a fan fiction. I'm the type of person who like fan fictions and considering them a tribute to the author, for me-I will very deeply touched if I could be an author with people who actually write fanfictions from my story, as to me that is a sign that they like my stories and characters so much that they would think of them and come up with alternative stories for them.

Anyway, I also have access to the anime at home. I don't like the anime as much as the manga despite the fact that favourite voice actor Koyasu Takehito (子安武人) voiced Hotohori, who is my favourite character. I think he did a great, wonderful job as Hotohori but the reason I don't like the anime more then the mange is because I feel the drawings are not as well done as they are in the manga. I think the beauty in the manga's drawings are lost as it got transformed in the anime.

Then there is the novel which I stumbled across on a site. The novel basically talks about some of the character's past, and while it it interesting, I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I think it is because I feel that the novel is too fast paced, there is too much action, and not enough focus on what the characters are thinking. But then I have only read one so I might be wrong.

Lastly, I've also downloaded some of the characters songs for Fushigi Yugi. I have the Hotohori character songs which Koyasu Takehito sang and they are so good! I love the lyrics as it is really really beautiful. My favourite one is "Sadame no Hoshi"- The star of destiny. I really love this song a lot so I'm putting the lyrics (the translation) up. the translations are obtained from anime lyrics.com. Me being me, I ended up very weepy whenever i hear this song.

"Please shine,
Star of Destiny!
Now, it's fading
in my consciousness.

Wishes are far away.
Dreams are in vain.
Yes, erase them
at once.

And then it will all be over.
And then it can all be put aside:
the self-accusations,
worrying about the country,
and the days of
regret and sorrow...

Please shine,
Star of Destiny!
Now, in the sky
that's getting dark.

Please shine,
Star of Destiny!
I should love
the people.

But their sad condition
is not the only concern
that my inner heart
tells me of.

That was our first parting,
but then we'll meet again eternally.
I'll still exist.
The two of us will
always live on
in my memory...

Please shine,
Star of Destiny!
Release this body
into the heavens "

In conclusion, it is a story worth reading and/or seeing. It's very funny in some parts, yet it also get very sweet and romantic. :)
